Art & AI: An Interactive Gallery of 100 Masterpieces

Like many people I want to learn more about artificial intelligence (AI). This post is part of a series where I experiment with AI tools, share what I build and learn. My hope is that these posts will create discussion around this transformational technology, its use cases and maybe even help others on their journey of AI discovery.

The focus of this experiment was to use AI tools to create an interactive gallery of 100 of historys greatest artworks, complete with an image, description and category. I used ChatGPT and Lovable to create the app, and it can be seen below (you can also view it on Lovable).

The Brief

To create a curated, interactive gallery of 100 of history’s greatest artworks, I combined the research capabilities of ChatGPT with the design power of Lovable. The result is an elegant, scrollable timeline that spans over two millennia of human creative expression.

I began by using ChatGPT to research, evaluate, and rank masterpieces from a wide spectrum of art history — from ancient Greek sculpture and Renaissance icons to modernist abstraction and contemporary visual culture. For each selected work, I compiled key metadata: artist, nationality, date, medium, cultural impact, and market value. I also used ChatGPT to generate concise, storytelling-rich descriptions that would resonate with both casual visitors and art enthusiasts.

Once the list was complete, I turned to Lovable to build the front-end experience. I prompted the AI to create a visually clean, mobile-responsive app that would present all 100 works in chronological order. Each entry includes an image, essential information, and a short narrative - all rendered in a timeless interface that lets the artwork take center stage.

This project is a celebration of how AI can amplify curation, design, and storytelling. By pairing ChatGPT’s research depth with Lovable’s rapid no-code deployment, I was able to create an accessible digital gallery that brings the history of art into a new interactive format, fast, beautiful, and built for everyone.
