Yorkshire CCC Programme Editor
Overview – Throughout my 6 month stay at Yorkshire CCC I edited the match day programme, a 48 page colour publication with a circulation of around 2,000. This role included not only planning the programme, but writing much of the content, sourcing images and liaising with different club departments and designers.
Objective – To produce an interesting programme that was current in time for match day.
Task – Typically, two weeks before the match I would plan the programme and put together a template of items such as news, player profiles and stats. Then nearer the match I would write up recent news items so the programme would be relevant and up to date. Once this had been completed I would liaise with the designers about the layout. I would then be responsible for proof reading the programme and making sure it is fit for publication. After a final round of proof reading I would then give the go-ahead for the programme to be printed.
Evidence - PDF of programme.
Results – Over the season I became adept at producing a match day programme in a timely fashion. It was a task I thoroughly enjoyed and gave me a real insight into being an editor and the associated deadline pressures. The role is one I enjoyed and would relish the responsibility again.
